Companion mode

Keep your apps. Add the Q.

Spotify picks great songs. Pandora runs itself. But none of them give you a crowd, a contest, or a way to bookmark the world around you. Qthatup runs alongside whatever you're listening on — the audio stays theirs, the interaction is all yours.

Runs alongside all of these

Tap a card to open that app — then keep Qthatup a swipe away.

Qthatup is an independent companion app and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by these platforms.

What we add that they don't have

Mic-tap recognition
After an explicit tap and microphone permission, Qthatup makes a brief recording and may recognize clear spoken or lyrical audio. It is not yet acoustic fingerprinting.
Judge It with everyone
Where a station or event enables it, respond with Fire, Good, Meh, or Skip and join its live audience conversation.
Polls & contests
Participating stations and event operators can publish polls, contests, and audience prompts for people to respond to from their phones.
Live listener chat
Join the station or event conversation where a participating operator has enabled a chat experience.
One Q, every link
When a song or media moment is recognized, My Q can include available links to help you continue listening or learn more.
Your Q, forever
Find supported songs, ads, places, and photos you have saved in My Q, subject to your account and available source information.

How it feels in practice

  1. Pandora's playing in the kitchen. A song stops you cold. Tap the mic in Qthatup and explicitly allow a brief recording—if a clear match is found, it is saved in My Q with available links.
  2. Spotify on the commute. When it is safe to do so, use the mic flow to try to recognize a song. Successful results appear in your history with available information.
  3. Craving the live feeling? Explore worldwide stations inside Qthatup, then join polls, chat, contests, or event tools where an operator has enabled them.
